A few words about me...
I hated going to counselling. I was maybe 8 or 9 years old and just dreaded it every single time. How many times was she going to ask me "how did that make you feel?". I just totally dreaded it.
Fast forward a few years, looking back to those Tuesday morning family outings at the therapist office, I can now appreciate what that therapist was doing. Though at that age I may not have taken to being asked a bunch of questions, others would have totally loved it.
My counselling style may be a bit different from others. Of course, just like everyone else, I am non-judgmental, compassionate, understanding, strive to help others... you know, the same things that all the other therapists say. But there is more. I use sensitive humor. I offer a no-nonsense, direct approach to the problems. I say it how it is. My style is to challenge you. To help de-clutter your thoughts and actions. To simplify your life. I am highly focused on solutions. Even if you are in the worse possible situation and feel like there is absolutely zero hope, trust me, I will find it. And will help you find the right solutions that makes sense to you!
I graduated from a leading institute in Professional Counselling with specific training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Gestalt Therapy and others. I have a certificate in EFT Couple Therapy from the ICEEFT, approved facilitator for Prepare-Enrich and certified member of the Gottman Checkup Assessment for couples. I have worked for several years as a Parent Therapist for The Children's Aid Society. And have volunteered as a crisis worker for the local crisis help line.
I follow the code of ethics from the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy
And that's pretty much it for me. I look forward to hearing your story!
