FAQs

Does couples counselling actually work?

I have witnessed some amazing things working with couples. I have seen couples come in with divorce papers ready to be signed, only to end up trashing it and reinventing their marriage. So yes! Counselling can work. Over 90% of my clients have reported therapy to be very beneficial to them.

Do you take insurance?

Many insurance companies will reimburse you. I work under the clinical supervision of a Registered Social Worker, so as long as your plan states RSW coverage, you will likely be covered. Many of my clients are with Sunlife, Great West Life, and others.

How long do I have to wait for an appointment?

From the moment you submit your intake forms, we can typically schedule within a week. If you have very limited availability, it will obviously take much longer before getting you an appointment.

Are there problems you don’t work with?

I am not a psychotherapist, therefore I do not treat severe mental health issues. As well, working with suicidal clients or those questioning gender are out of my scope of practice.

Isn’t therapy expensive? How can I afford it?

Just like everything else, you will need to budget for it. Therapy is cheaper than a divorce. Review your expenses and see what you can cut out just while you are coming in. I am pleased, though, to say that I offer one of the lowest rates for couples therapy.

Do you see individuals for therapy too?

I specialize in couples therapy, but will often see individuals about their relationships. So yes, I do see individuals for one-on-one therapy, but most of the time is regarding their relationships, whether it be romantic relationships, family and co-workers.
